Soldier and his family honored

Spc. Luis Avalos of Phoenix was among the 23 members of the Arizona Army National Guard’s  Detachment 1, Company b, 640th Aviation Support Battalion recently honored in a Tucson Freedom Salute ceremony commending their “high level maintenance capability” during their 2007 Afghanistan deployment.  His mother, Delia Rios, also of Phoenix , and other parents and spouses were singled out by Brig. General Tim Philips for their support of loved ones deployed as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. “I would be remiss if I didn’t give credit to the families,” he said.
