Partnership to fund dreams

The American Dream Fund, a newly developed partnership between Chicanos Por La Causa and the Arizona College Foundation, has launched a $7.5 million statewide fundraising effort to benefit high achieving undocumented college students. The Fund already has $5 million.

The collaboration is a response to the change in tuition status mandated by the voter approved Prop. 300, which also prevents the students from getting state-funded financial help. The change resulted in a 250 percent out-of-state tuition increases for as many as 200 undocumented college students at ASU. More college student need to be identified within the state university and community college systems. In addition, high school students in this situation graduating from high schools also will need help to attend college.

“The students who are being helped through donations to the American Dream Fund are some of the best talent Arizona has to offer,” says Edmundo Hildago, CPLC president/CEO. “They have demonstrated their ability to excel academically, are actively involved in the community, and aspire to succeed and contribute as scientists, doctors, attorney, educators and more.” www.cplc.org/American Dream.
