American Express launches new program

Geri Wright from The Heard Museum and Carlos Galindo-Elvira from Valle del Sol, Inc. were among the first group in American Express’ new program to train nonprofit leaders. The inaugural class of The American Express Nonprofit Leadership Academy participated in a week-long program in New York created in partnership with the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL). The Nonprofit Leadership Academy brought together 24 representatives from community, environmental, international relief and cultural organizations. The Academy is part of a broader commitment from the American Express Foundation to work with these and other organizations to develop a broader pool of world-class leaders committed to working in the nonprofit sector. Galindo-Elvira is vice president of philanthropic and community relations for Valle del Sol, and Geri Wright is director of development for The Heard Museum. www.americanexpress.com.
