From TV to trench coat
J.R. Cardenas
Say hello to young, hip and sassy J.R. Cárdenas, who hosts ¡Hola, Arizona! from 9 – 9:30 a.m. Saturdays on Spanish-language TV station Azteca 41.
The handsome actor describes the show as “entertainment based on the Hispanic community.” The first few shows covered the local F-1 racing factory and west Valley karate instructor “Macho” Camacho.
(Cárdenas can also be seen at www.latinopm.com, hosting a pilot the magazine filmed last year.)
But wait – there’s more! In late July he wrapped up a role in a new Ronalds Brothers production, Half Life, in which he plays an undercover agent in search of rogue victims of shadowy U.S government scientific experiments. The film was shot at downtown Phoenix and west Valley locations and Cardenas promises lots of computer-generated special effects. (For more info, visit www.barcafilms.com)
Cárdenas says he adds spice to ¡Hola, Arizona! via a character he developed earlier in his career. “It’s a very different J.R. than what you see on screen,” he says, and then jokes, “I’m bipolar.”
