Art x 3 = cool shows

Art x 3 = cool shows

Mechanical Duck, by Fausto

Three shows that definitely should be on your fall calendar feature work by local Latino artists:

At Mesa Contemporary Arts (where another art show, “Papel Chicano” is packing them in), Tucson-based artist Daniel Martin Diaz unveils “Mysterium Fidei,” which is slated to run Sept. 14 – Dec. 2. His works are filled with deep emotion, which Martin Diaz attributes to his being “most influenced by the amount of human suffering that has occurred throughout history and one’s undying faith in the afterlife.”

Who does an artist turn to when he or she wants to make fine prints? For more than two decades, local fine printer Joe Segura has collaborated with artists such as Enrique Chagoya, the late Luis Jiménez and Keith Haring, Vik Muñiz, Andres Serrano, James Turrell and William Wegman. Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art celebrates Segura Publishing Company’s achievements in “Right to Print,” Sept. 29 – Dec. 30.

Drop by Scottsdale’s Latin American Art Gallery, 6105 N. Cattletrack Road, to view ( and maybe buy) works by artists like Fausto Fernandez, Alfredo Manzo, Jose Bechara, and Perez Celis, among others. For more, info visit www.thelatinamericanartgallery.com.
