The Raul H. Castro Institute and Phoenix College are hosting a Community Reading and Book Signing by Dr. Jack August Jr. and the Honorable Raul H. Castro, co-authors of “Adversity is My Angel,” on Oct. 29.
“Adversity is My Angel:” The Life and Career of Raul H. Castro traces the astounding life of the first and only Hispanic governor of Arizona, through his childhood as a Mexican immigrant in a harsh land to his election as governor of the state and presidential appointments as ambassador to El Salvador, Bolivia, and Argentina. It chronicles how he overcame personal and racial prejudice to rise to the highest levels of accomplishment.
The reception is at 6 p.m. followed by a program from 7-8 p.m. at Phoenix College’s Osborn Center, located at the northeast corner of 11th Ave. and Flower.
