De La Cruz opens near arts center

Omar de la Cruz is giving hungry arts aficionados somewhere to go and munch and sip after visiting the downtown Mesa Arts Center. The restaurateur’s new 2,400 square-foot De La Cruz Bistro features American fare and wine, is located at 10 W. Main St., and seats 80 patrons.  Like other downtown restaurateur owners, de la Cruz is hoping to tap many of the hundreds of thousands of people expected to attend MAC concerts and visual arts galleries during the 2008-09 season. “It will have a casual atmosphere yet be nice enough to appeal to people who wish to sit down and be wined and dined before and after performances at Mesa Arts Center,” says De la Cruz, whose wife Silda will help him run the eatery. He also owns the nearby Mango’s Mexican Café, and his family owns four other restaurants in the East Valley. De La Cruz Bistro is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. (480) 258-6942.
