Award winning guitarist comes to Arizona

GUITAR VIRTUOSO AND native of Peru Jorge Caballero is the youngest musician (he was only 19) and the only guitarist to win the prestigious Naumberg International Competition. Now Arizona can enjoy this phenomenal talent when Caballero performs Oct. 9 at ASU’s Katzin Concert Hall in the School of Music in Tempe.

The artist recently recorded Dvorak’s New World symphony, transcribed for solo guitar – and is one of only two guitarists on the planet who can play it. According to his bio material, when Caballero applied to the conservatory, his teacher suggested that perhaps he should list the pieces that he could not play, since there were so few of them.
