Jesse Garcia makes the play in The Comebacks

SPOOFING INSPIRATIONAL SPORTS movies is a little like skating on thin ice, but actor Jesse Garcia plunges into The Comebacks, directed by Tom Brady and produced by Tapestry Films (Wedding Crashers).

Opening nationwide Oct. 26, the story follows a losing coach who takes a bunch of misfits to the brink of a football championship. In the process,he learns there is no “I” in “team,” despite the risk of losing the game. The film also stars David Koechner (“Champ” in Anchorman), Carl Weathers, Matthew Lawrence, Brooke Nevin and Jackie Long.
