Zavala leads nonprofit

Alexandra Zavala has been named Executive Director of Girls for A Change

Zavala sits on the Phoenix Women’s Commission and is the Phoenix-area facilitator for Las Comadres Para las Americas – a national, culturally-based professional support and networking group for Latinas and Latinas by marriage. She is a 2006 graduate of Valle del Sol’s Hispanic Leadership Institute and volunteers with several organizations, including Mujer, Inc. and The Susan G. Komen Foundation. She graduated from ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism with a Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism.

, formerly with Planned Parenthood, has joined Girls for A Change as Phoenix executive director. Girls for A Change was founded in 2000 to teach young girls to reach out and make a difference in their communities. Having grown up in the Valley of the Sun, Zavala is dedicated to effecting social change for the betterment of her community and is especially dedicated to the empowerment of women and girls.
