The University of Arizona was recently named as one of the top research universities in the nation, according to a report recently released by the National Science Foundation.

A rizona ranked 21st among all universities in the United States an 14th among public universities, with more than $478,680,000 in research expenditures during the 2004 fiscal year.
The NSF report was compiled after colleges and universities completed surveys reporting their research and development expenditures within the science and engineering fields. The fields include social sciences, physical sciences, life sciences, psychology, engineering, medicine and other related areas.
