UA online border coverage lauded

An online publication produced by students in the University of Arizona’s department of journalism was named a finalist for the 2007 Online Journalism Awards presented by the Online News Association and the Annenberg School of Communication at the University of Southern California in October.

Border Beat was named a finalist in the student journalism category. The site, launched in the spring by online journalism students and their instructor, Jay Rochlin, offers news, insights and resources for those interested in the U.S.-Mexico border region.

Border Beat's recent offerings included a story on Mexican citizens traveling to Arizona border towns and a profile of a UA journalism professor who wrote a mystery novel on the Mission San Xavier del Bac. For these and other stories, visit http://borderbeat.net.
