Painted Saints

Artisans of 18th- and 19th-century New Mexico depicted Christian saints and holy figures on painted wooden panels that held special spots in the home or church for the faithful. Now a splendid 90-piece show culled from the collection of Janis and Dennis Lyon, “A Century of Retablos,” can be seen through Jan. 27 at the Phoenix Art Museum.
