Chiles & chocolate

Succulent food, complemented with vivacious foot-stomping,

Dinner and dancing.

Spicy, succulent food, complemented with vivacious foot-stomping, promises a lively evening at the Desert Botanical Garden.

One of our favorite entertainment troupes, Flamenco del Sol, will be serving up a menu of traditional Spanish dance during DBG's Chiles and Chocolate Festival Nov. 11-12.

Accompanied by popular flamenco guitarist Curt Cichon, the dancers will perform from noon to 1 p.m. Spanish dancers Herlinda Lopez and Deanne Poulos also have invited tribal belly dancer, Karina, to show the Arabic influence on Spanish dance. Colorful costumes, flashy zapateado (footwork), rhythmic palmas (hand-clapping), castanets and jaleo (shouts) are sure to aid the appetite.

For information, visit www.dbg.org or call the gardens at (480) 941-1217 or Flamenco del Sol at (602) 841-5185.
