Political Hunting Season

The political scene begins to simmer as politicians take aim at each other

Political Hunting Season
It’s the political season, and candidates and their backers are already lining up each other in their sights. George Diaz of Tolleson and Gregory Torrez are supporting Democrat Tim Nelson for Maricopa County Attorney. George sent Latino Perspectives his reasons for wanting Andrew Thomas out:

My Top Ten reasons to FIRE Andy Thomas:

10. An affinity for antiquated puritan-like justice
9. Has pushed the envelope on violating civil rights including questionable wiretaps
8. Three hundred percent increase
in fees paid to outside lawyers including multi-million dollar payments to friends and political supporters now totaling $11 million
7. Criminal enforcement funds diverted away from prosecutions and instead used on ads promoting himself (i.e. RICO funds)
6. Remember the sound bite, “No plea bargains”? Criminal defendants don’t need to plea bargain.  Recently 44 percent of indigent defendants were being acquitted of ALL charges
5. Likes to suggest crime is related to ethnicity or national origin
4. By obsessing on personal vendettas, Andy has turned Maricopa County into a safe haven for serious criminals
3. Abuses of power like the bogus New Times subpoenas and arrests
2. Has permitted racial profiling by turning a blind eye to Joe’s sweeps
1. If your prosecutor can’t win 56 percent of the trials he chooses to bring against indigent defendants, he deserves to be fired.

Good for you George. Now let's see if we can get the rest of our community to not only take a stand against Andy Thomas, but if they will open their minds and pocket-books to supporting Tim Nelson.

I have met Tim several times and he IS the only effective, honest and dedicated individual out there to change the climate in Maricopa County. Now if we can just work on Joe.
