NAWBO honors Gray-Davis

Lorrinda Gray-Davis

Lorrinda Gray-Davis, director of diversity for Perini Building Company, has received the 2008 Women of Distinction Award from the National Association of Women Business Owners, Southern Nevada Chapter. Gray-Davis chairs the board of directors for the Grand Canyon Minority Supplier Development Council. She is board secretary for the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and serves on the board of directors for the Women’s Business Enterprise Council and the Associated Minority Contractors of America. Most recently, Gray-Davis received the Azteca Award from the United States Hispanic Contractors Association (USHCA). NAWBO recognized Gray-Davis for her leadership role in promoting diversity initiatives in the construction industry. She is responsible for developing and overseeing company policies that increase employment opportunities for minority and women-owned businesses on Perini’s construction projects, including a national effort to inform vendors and subcontractors about project opportunities. She has developed comprehensive workshops that educate subcontractors about working on large scale construction projects – such as the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel – and has been instrumental in initiating programs that help subcontractors succeed on the job, such as a mentoring program that partners Perini’s key subcontractors with less experienced firms.
