Festive and friendly happenings for kids

In an attempt to provide balance to the Vibe section, we are pointing out some kinder, gentler events that little ones will enjoy in May.

In an attempt to provide balance to the Vibe section, we are pointing out some kinder, gentler events that little ones will enjoy in May.

The first is Sesame Street Live: Elmo Makes Music, showing at the Dodge Theatre, 400 W. Washington St., Phoenix, from May 3-6. We're thinking Muppet Rosita, who has a Puerto Rican thing goin', will rock the fuzzy red kid's world with a couple of catchy cumbia and salsa numbers. Tickets are $12 to $35. For info, visit www.dodgetheatre.com.

Then, a friendly tank engine arrives in Arizona to take families and kids for "A Day Out with Thomas 2007: All Aboard Tour" from Williams to the Grand Canyon May 11-13 and 18-20. Guests can take a 45-minute ride on the 15-ton replica and enjoy activities at the station, including temporary tattoos, arts and crafts, bouncy houses, a magician and a hay bale maze. There will also be an opportunity to meet and take pictures with the character Sir Topham Hatt, as well as hear stories and live music.

Tickets are $16 for ages two and older and are available by calling (866) 468-7630 or visiting www.thetrain.com.
