A Mother's Love
Children pay tribute to moms
Angela Rabago-Mussi & Anita Mabante Leach
These days, it seems Latina mothers are the focus of many studies, from prenatal weight-gain studies to postpartum depression surveys to the psychosocial characteristics of new immigrants.
We wanted to take Latina moms out from under the microscope and frame them in their primary function as parents and role models. For many Latinos, mothers make the rules we live by. We asked their children to talk about their generational differences, the traits and goals they share and ultimately the influence their mothers have had on their adult lives.
