Phoenix promotes insider to city prosecutor

Aarón J. Carreón-Aínsa has been promoted to city prosecutor for Phoenix. In his new role, Carreón-Aínsa will manage an $18 million budget and 173 employees. Since joining the city in 1979, he served as the chief of the Appeals, Charging and Special Prosecutions bureaus. In 1996, he founded the Community Prosecution Bureau, which targets blighted properties and supports neighborhood groups and city departments in revitalization efforts. Carreón-Aínsa earned a bachelor of arts and a juris doctor from Arizona State University. He also has studied at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Carreón-Aínsa replaces Kerry G.
