Calling Latina business owners
Latina business owners will have the chance to compete for $50,000 in capital, coaching and other prizes in a March 4 event that is the American Idol of women entrepreneurs. The Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is a key partner in promoting the program to Latina entrepreneurs.The event takes place on Tuesday, March 4 at the Scottsdale Center for the Arts.
Make Mine a Million $ Business is a program of Count Me In for Women’s Economic Independence - and founding partner, OPEN from American Express®. The program provides a combination of money, mentoring, marketing and technology tools that women entrepreneurs need to help grow their businesses from micro bucks to millions.
Nell Merino, founder of the Make Mine a Million competitions held in cities nationwide, said she created the program to help woman entrepreneurs grow their businesses to $1 million in revenue. She says she wants to inspire 1 million women to reach the $1 million mark by 2010.
Women with companies that have revenue of $250,000 or more are eligible to register for the competition. Ten local finalists will compete in the statewide contest. The March 4 event will include dress rehearsals and makeovers, leading up to the contest, where each finalist will have 3 minutes to make her case in front of judges and small business owners.
One Arizona woman will win a prize package, which includes up to $50,000 in financing, business and marketing consulting services, a network from Cisco Systems, a $500 credit for Marriott hotels and a notebook computer. A separate group comprised of 10 finalists from across the nation also will compete at the Arizona contest, to be held at Scottsdale Center for the Arts. For more, www.ahcc.com.
