Anna Maria Chavez : Governor’s Staff, policy advisor
Anna Maria Chávez is a member of Governor Janet Napolitano’s inner circle, and as such has the state leader’s ear on important policies, many which directly affect the Latino community. She is an attorney and formerly served in Washington, D.C.
What drew you to public policy?
I have always been interested in the area of public policy and public service. I have a passion for public service and truly respect people that devote energy and time to understand public problems and the dedication to contribute to their solution.
Most important trend in politics?
From my personal perspective, I am very excited to see more people engaged in the discussion about the future of our country and the impact of upcoming elections. I think we will continue to see a trend in voters that are interested in participating in the public policy debate on immigration, health care and our economy.
What is your favorite hobby?
I play golf when I have a free moment, but it’s been months since I’ve seen a golf course.
What do you love most about Arizona?
I am proud to be an Arizona native and enjoyed growing up in Eloy. My personal connection to Arizona has given me a deep respect for our rich history and culture
