State steps up

The state of Arizona has debuted ArizonaStepsUp.com, an online database of all firms certified as Small Business Enterprises, Women Business Enterprises, Minority Business Enterprises and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises with Phoenix, Tucson and the state Department of Transportation.

The site is part of Gov. Janet Napolitano's Equity in State Contracting Initiative. It aims to garner more exposure for certified firms and help state agencies when it comes to requesting contract bids. In December 2004, Napolitano signed an executive order requiring state agencies to increase its use of certified businesses.
