PC offers Chavez course
A new course offered at Phoenix College -- A Service Learning Experience: César Chávez, Public Policy, and Community Engagement -- is a collaboration between the school's Southwest Studies department and the César E. Chávez Foundation.
Added this spring, students will examine how citizens, both individually and collectively, accomplish social change in our society through the vision, philosophy, and life's work of the late activist.
Based upon Chávez' 10 Core Principles, the course is designed to be a mixture of lecture and seminar styles of teaching that includes discussion of readings, dialogue with community activists, a service-learning experience, and presentations by members of the class.
