Animation studio wants to help American TV connect with growing Latino audience

Latinos in 3D
A Latino, is a Latino, is a Latino. Right? Nah! You know it and so do the founders of Cilantro Animation Studios in Boca Raton, Florida.  Determined to help American TV executives connect with an ever-broadening, socially and economically diverse Latino audience, Cilantro executives are using cutting-edge animation to develop television shows and commercials that truly connect with Latino audiences. At the same time, Cilantro’s jefes hope to expose American viewers to the many complex aspects of Latino culture, not just the stereotypes that pervade TV.

“We believe the right mix of sophisticated technology, folklore and excellent storytelling will benefit television networks and audiences alike. After all, we may have our differences, but we’re all in this together,” says Salvatore Cavalieri, president/CEO of Cilantro Animation Studios. Cilantro’s artists have created story lines like Usuy, a brave,  Incan boy, and La Carta Family, about a young Latino in Florida dealing with his dysfunctional family. So the next time you’re watching an episode of Battlestar Galactica, think about the one-dimensional character Hollywood has written for series star Edward James Olmos. Are you kidding me, only one Latino exploring the final frontier? Not if the folks at Cilantro have their way. For more information about Cilantro Animation Studios, visit www.cilantroanimation.com.
