Hispanics more likely to miss Alzheimer’s symptoms
Hispanics and African-Americans are more likely to delay seeking care for Alzheimer’s Disease and therefore lead to greater progression of the illness, according to an
Alzheimer’s Foundation of America survey. Researchers found that 33 percent of Hispanic and 37 percent of African-American caregivers were more likely to believe that the symptoms of Alzheimer’s were just part of growing old, compared to 23 percent of caregivers from other racial or ethnic groups. African-American and Hispanic caregivers were also more likely to say they did not know much about the disease.
