D-back pitches for Qwest
Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Tony Peña is coming in as a spokesman for Qwest Communications International Inc. The Denver-based company has signed the MLB player as part of ongoing efforts to showcase its commitment to the Hispanic community. Peña will make appearances for Qwest at cultural events, as well as represent the company in media campaigns to promote Qwest high-speed Internet, voice and wireless products. Qwest has several products tailored to the Hispanic market, such as Qwest Plan Latino, a long-distance calling plan with reduced rates to Mexico and Latin American countries. Qwest maintains a separate sponsorship with the Diamondbacks that includes in-game promotions and the Qwest High-Speed Pitch Meter at Chase Field. Additionally, for every Diamondbacks’ win in 2008, Qwest is donating $100 to Friendly House.
