Expert advice for women on how to beat recession

¿Será Posible? Things that make us go “hmm”

Never mind that women keep making cents on the dollar compared to their male coworkers; or that women live longer and outlive their retirement savings. Dating guru Lisa Johnson is offering women advice on how to beat the recession through workshops and her book on How to Snare a Millionaire.

Gold diggers? No. Smart, yes; says Johnson. She claims it’s instinctual for women to seek security. Back in the Stone Age, she tells her pupils, in order to survive women were attracted to the most successful hunter, same thing in this tough economic market. Her practical “how-to” guide offers these tips:

Be the prize. Wear killer stilettos and bright colors.

Be approachable. Smile and make eye contact. If a millionaire is in the room, look directly at him and think, “Oh, baby, oh, baby, you are the hottest thing I have ever seen, and we need each other bad.” If done right, the sugar daddy receiving the telecommunication will be mesmerized.

Be at the right place, at the right time. Hang out where the rich guys do.

Play hard to get. Play to be the catch but don’t sleep with the guy right away.

Judging from the number of used copies of How to Snare a Millionaire available for sale on Amazon, we have our doubts her method works. Unless of course the women who originally bought the book read it, married a millionaire, suddenly became frugal and are now selling their used copies.

How to Snare a Millionaire reminds us of a horribly sexist Latin American saying which implies at least five chauvinist assumptions: “There are no ugly women, just poor husbands.”

What’s up with that?
