The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences seeks volunteers for its Sister Study research project.

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences seeks volunteers for its Sister Study research project, which explores how environment and genes affect the risk of developing breast cancer.

About 25,000 women are in the 10-year study; eventually it will include more than 50,000.

Women in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, ages 35 to 74, may be eligible to join the Sister Study if their sisters had breast cancer. Participants must never have had breast cancer themselves. Enrollment is open through September 2007.

To volunteer or learn more about the Sister Study, visit www.sisterstudy.org, or for Spanish visit www.estudiodehermanas.org or call (877) 474-7837. Hearing impaired participants may call (866) 889-4747.
