Last year’s inaugural Tucson Festival of Books was a huge success, drawing a crowd of close to 50,000, with authors and book signings and readings scattered across the University of Arizona campus. This year’s event will be an even bigger hit as word gets around about this new Tucson tradition. Tucson Festival of Books is March 13-14, 2010, once again on the UA campus, with NPR’s Scott Simon headlining the Author’s Dinner on March 12. Sponsored by the Arizona Daily Star and hosted and organized by the University of Arizona, net proceeds will promote literacy in Southern Arizona through the Tucson Festival of Books Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Visitors can enjoy not only perfect desert spring weather, but also hundreds of lectures, interviews, panel discussions and workshops, not to mention countless books to add to their personal libraries – and food and entertainment to boot. Children’s events will keep the younger set busy with storytelling and hands-on arts and crafts. Find out more at www.tucsonfestivalofbooks.org.
