UA receives math grant

The National Science Foundation has awarded the University of Arizona a $3.5 million grant

The National Science Foundation has awarded the University of Arizona a $3.5 million grant over the next five years to satisfy the needs and improve the quality of advanced mathematics education.

The VIGRE (Vertically InteGrated Research and Education), grant will fund projects that directly affect how math is taught. Students at various levels of training will have the opportunity to engage in a range of experiences and intense research.

The nature of the program is designed to make influential changes in the training of mathematicians that will last long after the grant is over.
