Having a ball with fashion
The LabelHorde Fashion Ball and first Valley Fashion Week held in late November was a diverse canvas of public self-expression for local fashionistas.
Angela Johnson, head of LabelHorde, the statewide organization of Arizona’s budding fashion industry, and her army of fashionista foot soldiers organized creative happenings for the hip, talented and well dressed at Phoenix’s Clarendon Hotel & Resort and other Valley venues to highlight local designers, models, and stylists.
A bit of a surprise (to us) was the swelling numbers of Latino designers, models and support talent displayed at the fashion ball.
Latino designers strutting their stuff included Alex Garcia with AGA Jewelry & Clothing Design, Emelie Uriarte of Arte Puro, Brenda Juarez of BreMay, Alma Primero of Coleccion, Hector Primero of Phunk N Fusion, Martha Pena of Mill Maravilla, Julie Nueva of Rumbly, Inc., and Martin Perez of Stitch Connect.
Some chic chica and papi chulo models owning the runway were Carolina Gomez, Chrystal Perez, Vanessa Regalado, Jessica Arviso, Cynthia Fierro, Janet Quintero, and Arthur Martinez.
And we’d best mention those gente who make it with the make-up and funky do’s that add the wild touches to the fashion styling. Creative stylists like Robert Saenz, Diane Aiello, and Anna Gutierrez.
If we missed somebody, not to worry; Latino Perspectives will be profiling these styling artists in upcoming issues.
