LOANS FOR VETS

A loan initiative by the U.S. Small Business Administration has initiated a new loan program to help veterans and their families become entrepreneurs.

The Patriot Express Loan Initiative is available to veterans, reservists and National Guard members as well as their spouses and widows or widowers. Applicants can use the money for a range of business purposes, including startup, expansion, equipment purchases, working capital, inventory and business-occupied real-estate purchases. The program allows applicants to apply for a loan of up to $500,000.

Like other SBA loan programs, the agency will underwrite up to 85 percent of a loan (up to $150,0000) and 75 percent of a loan between $150,000 and $500,000. For more info, visit www.sba.gov/az.
